Abraham Lincoln’s Beard

The Library of Congress describes this as the first photo of Abraham Lincoln wearing a beard.

He grew the beard in 1860 after receiving a letter from 11-year-old Grace Bedell telling the candidate “…if you let your whiskers grow I will try and get (her brothers) to vote for you and then you would be President.”
